AGM Solar Batteries: What Are They and How Do They Work?
AGM solar batteries are a popular type of lead-acid battery used for solar power, caravans, motorhomes, boats, backup power and off-grid energy systems.
AGM stands for Absorbent Glass Mat. Unlike a traditional flooded lead-acid battery, the electrolyte inside an AGM battery is absorbed into a glass-fibre mat between the lead plates. This construction makes AGM batteries maintenance-free, highly resistant to vibration and suitable for many applications where a conventional flooded battery would be less convenient.
